TopTen Cross Cultural Lessons Worth Applying
Lesson #8 – Don’t Forget Your Team.
I must admit that sometimes living intensely with 4 or 12 or 25 other people for one to two weeks can get a little, well…. annoying. It is easy to get tired of the group think, group speak and group decision-making, even if they are your friends. Others will be tempted to avoid the team all together so they can “hang out with the locals” because, after all, they are the reason that you are there.
These are all real feelings experienced on a short-term trip. However, it is important to remember that God has called each of you to serve together corporately and unity is a very evident part of your testimony to others. They are watching you.
So, lesson #3 is Don’t Forget your Team. Work to guard the unity of the team and value the diversity of gifts, life experiences, and personalities that God has purposefully and strategically brought together for this trip. Learn to yield to one another and practice the “one anothers” found throughout Scripture.
Here are a few examples:
– Love one another: John 13:34,
– Be at peace with one another: Ephesians 4:29-35
– Serve one another: Philippians 2:1-10
– Build up one another: Hebrews 10:24
– Receive one another: Romans 15:7
– Submit to one another: Ephesians 5:21
